Reckoning is pleased to announce we are open to reviews of novels, anthologies, and story collections that center themes of environmental justice. The majority of our fiction reviews will cover books published in the last year; however, we will consider reviews of older titles that either didn’t get the attention they deserved when they were published or are freshly relevant. We’re particularly interested in covering books from independent presses and authors from historically marginalized groups.
Pitches are welcome, but not required. To pitch, submit a brief description of the book and why you want to review it (no more than 300 words), a short bio, and, if possible, one or two examples of critical work. If your pitch is accepted, we can try to get a review copy for you. Here’s an incomplete list of titles we’re interested in seeing reviewed.
Length: 1,000 – 2,000 words. Payment: $75 (US) flat rate per review. Sample contract is here.
We only allow one open submission at a time. Feel free to submit again after you hear back.
We’re no longer accepting submissions by email; please submit your review pitch or review via our Moksha submission portal.
